The Old Biscuit Mill, Woodstock.
Having heard so much about the Pot Luck Club and their infamous Bottomless brunch, I literally couldn’t wait and it did not disappoint. Sitting at the top of an old biscuit mill the view is stunning and the stylish restaurant is light and airy with a large open kitchen.
We started at the Bloody Mary station as an attempt to wash away the sore head from the previous night and were encouraged to create our own Bloody Mary’s and could add bacon, oysters or chilli infused vodka if feeling spicy!
We opted for bottomless bubbles to accompany the sharing brunch menu and chose a delicious pink Champagne. The brunch menu was inspired by the Head Chef’s travels to Singapore and is a mixture of delicious tapas plates which included Beef Tataki, Fish Tacos, Goats’ Cheese Arancini, Pork Belly Sliders and of course, all started off delicious butters with warm homemade breads.
All courses were presented beautifully with a fun twist on the style, the scrambled eggs were served in eggs shells which looked great. We worked through a menu of salty, sweet and savoury courses before a sweet ending, finishing off the meal with an amazing Portuguese style custard tart, which, (of course!), we had espresso martinis with!
Looking back the burrata cheese with nectarine was served with a thin filo style crisp and pistachio was a definite stand out dish along with the fish tacos and custard tart. I love taking away inspiration and it is no wonder that these buys have been killing it since 2013, it was a delicious meal and fed me with plenty of fun ideas for Social Pantry.
The views looking out over Cape Town from the top of the tower are pretty special and looking out on a sunny day with glass of fizz reminded me just how lucky I am to be able to travel and enjoy some of the worlds best food.
