With Social Pantry’s home delivery service in full swing, I wanted to share my top tips on how you can make your meals extra special during lockdown with simple table styling tips and hacks.
We’re all stuck inside, and I’ve found that jazzing up my dinner table every night is a fun way to signal the end of the working day and make mealtimes something to get excited about. I love an inspiring tablescape as much as the next person, but with limited resources at the moment, below are my quick and easy tips for making a difference to your settings:
1: If you’re watching your weekly spend and don’t have easy access to cut-flowers, add a splash of greenery to your table with some simple herbs. Pop them in terracotta pots or glass jars/vases and use a mix of herbs to add texture. Simple but effective!
2: If, like me, you’ve had a Spring clean and discovered old crockery and glasses at the back of the cupboard, now is the perfect time to show off your most outrageous, colourful designs. I love a bit of mismatched styling! Try mixing them up with a simple tablecloth, natural place mats, plain glassware and off-white napkins to really shine.
3: I usually head straight for gold candlesticks and vibrant candles from Edition 94 to add height and colour to the table set up. Adding some bright pink candles would also be a fun pop of colour – like these beautiful hand-dipped ones from independent shops on Etsy.
4: This cutlery is from Classic Crockery and works perfectly with any table setting, gold and silver cutlery would also work well with this styling. It all adds to that vibrant feel.
5: The brilliant Romeo + Jules designed Social Pantry’s stunning Easter menu, adding that extra special element. Whilst we’ve all got a little more time on our hands, homemade menus or place cards adds a lovely personal touch. You can keep it as simple as writing in gold pen on a leaf or if you have kids let them loose on the place names! It’ll keep them entertained for at least an hour - win win!
If you’re looking for new recipes to try some of my simple table styling tips, I’ll be sharing some new lockdown recipes over the next few weeks so watch this space.
