After the dark, cool nights of winter, the spring and summer months are the time to embrace social occasions with vibrant dishes and joy-filled gatherings. Here comes the sun… well nearly. With summer on the horizon, I’ve been dreaming of alfresco dining and getting prepped for warm, balmy evenings.
When entertaining, setting the scene is essential. Wow your guests on arrival with fun decorative elements, then wine & dine them so they’re suitably relaxed and you’re in for a fun evening ahead.
How? Follow my top tips for entertaining alfresco and make the most of those long summer evenings:
As soon as the sun sets, there’s a chill in the air that soon sets in (let’s remember, we live in Britain not the Caribbean). Use cushions with colour and other soft furnishings such as blankets for your friends to snuggle under and keep your summer party going all night long.
Flower pots for your cutlery
Blur the lines and utilise those unused flowers pots that you haven’t quite got round to planting for your cutlery and serving utensils. Kitchen supper style – this is perfect for when space is limited and there’s no need to properly set the table.
Incorporate the great outdoors and hang leaf garlands intertwined with fairy lights to create ambience in your garden.
Go bold, it’s summer and everybody needs a little colour in their life. We’re loving statement stripes mixed with yellow hues, blush tones, splashes of blue and saffron creams.
Create a jungle of dreams in your party area of choice…I’ll leave the rest to your imagination.
